Early Decision Deadlines Shifting Due to Common App Problems

As glitches with the Common Application continue, some schools with early admission programs have decided extend their deadlines. While students should not hope or assume that their chosen college will allow an extension (remember, My College Helper has advised many times over the past weeks to give yourself a buffer zone if using the Common App), some colleges are indeed offering extensions. Here's a sampling as of today:
  • Duke
  • University of North Carolina Chapel Hill
  • Georgia Tech
  • Northwestern
  • Boston University
  • Princeton will now accept the Universal College App as an alternative to the Common App
Many other colleges are actively monitoring the situation and most
assure applicants that problems due to submitting will not be held against them.

In the meantime, if you are applying early, plan ahead and keep the lines of communication open with your chosen college. And, if the college has an alternate method of applying, you may want to consider using it until we hear that the Common App system is bug-free.
